Charlie is a screenwriter and filmmaker. He is an alumnus of the BFI Film Academy. He studied MA Screenwriting at MetFilm School in London and achieved the first Distinction in the School’s history. His graduation feature film script placed in a range of international competitions including the Academy Nicholl Fellowship. He was commissioned to write and direct a short art film for Channel 4 during his MA. He works as a script reader for the BBC and British Film Institute, as well as being the youngest member of staff in the faculty he lectures BA Screenwriting for at Canterbury Christ Church University. His debut play as a playwright ran in Manchester in September 2021 at the Hope Mill Theatre. He works freelance as a script editor for a wide variety of independent filmmakers, with a specific focus on diverse and creative storytelling. He was selected for the BFI NETWORK x BAFTA Crew talent development programme for 2021 as a BAFTA Mentee. He has been commissioned to write and direct two short films this year, one for BFI NETWORK and another for Creative Estuary.
